Raroa Gully

We live near Zealandia Ecosanctuary in Wellington. I love seeing and hearing all the birds that have come to overflow from Zealandia - it's like having a mini bird sanctuary in our own back garden. We are lucky to have a gully of regenerating bush behind our house that’s difficult for people to reach. This means all kinds of native birds and plants have made it their home without fear of intrusion.

Our entire family has sensitive skin. I was at a loss as to what to use and found using handmade soap, especially Castile handmade soap, made a big difference for us. Over an 18-month period I researched and experimented with soap recipes to design one that was gentle enough not to aggravate any skin type.

Our soaps give your body a breather from the effects of hand sanitiser, cheap detergent-based cleansers, preservatives and perfumes and are gentle enough to use again and again, day after day. We do this by combining a traditional Castile recipe with the best ingredients from New Zealand (including extra virgin olive oil from The Olive Press in Greytown) and overseas.

Our favourite thing about what we do is hearing from people about how their skin isn't irritated when they use our soap. Knowing that our little company has helped people to get their skin issues under control so they can get on with their lives makes us feel like we're making a difference. - Megan Lloyd-Evans, Raroa Gully
